If you are like me, you understand the hassles attached with getting invited to a wedding. Now don’t get me wrong, I love heart melting, tear spilling, head spinning romance and the joy of a magical ceremony signifying the beginning of a lifelong love story but getting dressed for a wedding? That’s a whole different ball game.
Single? Then you know weddings are clichéd as the perfect place to find Mr. Right. Why? Well, most of the groomsmen are friends of the groom and the thing with men is, once their ‘boy’ takes the plunge, it automatically creates a ripple effect on the rest of the team. The others begin to follow like a pack of wolves and voila, you are surrounded by a sea of eligible bachelors.
So, the next time you are invited to a wedding, realize you could be meeting your future husband and dress the part. Follow these simple rules and you are sure to make a lasting impression for months to come.
– Fit to a T
You need to make sure your dress is a perfect fit. You don’t want to look frumpy or as though you borrowed your outfit, do you? Remember, however, that it is a wedding not a club, so keep the overly exposed cleavages and extremely short skirts out of sight. You want to whisper classy not scream trashy when you walk by.
– Statement Shoes
Ask Cinderella and she will tell you that shoes could change a girl’s life forever. Yes, Cinderella is only a fictional character created by a cartoonist but boy, is she right. With the right pair of shoes, you can take an outfit drab to ‘fab’ in an instant. Add a little spunk to your feet with glitter in your heels but whatever you do, get a trend statement pair of shoes that compliment your dress.
P.S: Juts because its ‘hot’ doesn’t mean it’s the right pair for the cut or silhouette of your outfit.
– Makeup glam
What’s all the noise about men liking their women natural? Yes, they may say so and some even think they mean it but trust me, unless you look as fresh faced as Blake Lively when you wake up, you need some colour in your face. If you can afford it, get a makeup artist to doll you up before the wedding. Some are not as expensive as you may think and could charge a little under N5,000 for the whole shebang. If you would rather not, there is always a less expensive way and my personal favorite, the DIY.
Doing it yourself is sure to help you save that extra cash but ensure you learn a thing or two about drawing your brows in and your skin tone from an artist who knows her onions. Try watching makeup video tutorials on YouTube and watch your face glow from all the easy-to-do tips and tricks.
Costume jewelries are all the rage this season because they add attitude and pizzazz to your outfit making you dazzle all day long. While Gold accessories are nice and can automatically make you appear like a million naira, costume jewelry, beads and wire works make you look trendy, sassy and cool.
