Chief naval staff, Ibok-EteIbas has asked that the Niger Delta Avengers desist from their plan to resume bombing oil facilities in the Niger Delta.
The Niger Delta Avengers have recently intimated the public on plans to carry out fresh attacks on oil facilities due to the perceived federal government’s failure to uphold their part of the bargain.
Ibas while speaking to journalists at the eastern naval command headquarters on Tuesday in Calabar said that the Navy would not sit by and watch militants destroy pipelines.
“We are prepared for any group that threatens the unity and peace of our country,” he said.
“We are ready to stop all forms of illegal activities on our nation’s economic resources.
“We have in the last two years made a considerable impact of reducing the operations of pirates,” he said.
“No individual or group including the Niger Delta Avengers has the audacity to threaten the country and we will also make sure that Nigerians can use the maritime space unhindered.”
