Hugh Hefner, millionaire playboy and founder of playboy magazine has died. He was 91-years-old.
The last year had been troublesome for Hefner as regards his health which is why he had avoided the public eyefor a while.
The professional playboy who hosted wild parties at his mansion was married three times- to Mildred Williams in 1949 … then former Playmate of the Year Kimberly Conrad in 1989 … and finally Crystal Hefner in 2012 with a 60 year age difference between them.
Hefner established Playboy magazine in 1953 and was known for publishing nude photos of models and celebrities with the very first issue showcasing a nude photo of famous actress Marilyn Monroe.
After nearly 60 years of publishing nude photos, the magazine decided to put a halt to the publication of nude photos but that decision lasted less than a year as it was later rescinded when his son Cooper became Chief Creative Officer.
Confirming the news in a statement, Cooper said his father lived the life of his dreams.
“My father lived an exceptional and impactful life as a media and cultural pioneer and a leading voice behind some of the most significant social and cultural movements of our time in advocating free speech, civil rights and sexual freedom.”
“He defined a lifestyle and ethos that lie at the heart of the Playboy brand, one of the most recognizable and enduring in history. He will be greatly missed by many, including his wife Crystal, my sister Christie and my brothers David and Marston and all of us at Playboy Enterprises.”
Hefner died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Crystal and four grown children.
