Hours after alleged Boko Haram insurgents attacked some towns in Maiduguri where they burnt houses and killed some residents, the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo has paid a visit.
The attack which lasted for several hours saw police officers engage in a gun battle with the insurgents on Wednesday. Though residents have been assured that they will be protected, a large number have deserted their homes for fear of a repeat attack.
Osinbajo’s trip to the troubled city is to launch the special intervention relief plan for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
During his visit, Osinbajo stopped by the shehu of Borno state’s palace assuring the monarch of president Buhari’s concern for all the Internally Displaced people in the vicinity.
