A solidarity march has been staged in support of President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday as a counter match for protesters clamouring for Buhari’s resignation.
Center for Civil Soceity and Justice and Coalition for Good Governance and Change Initiative Nigeria marched in Abuja wielding placards that said ‘Buhari, Osinbajo: We Are Fully with You’, ‘Our President Is Recuperating’, ‘God Has Healed Nigeria, Glory Be To God’, ‘Nigerians Are United For President Buhari’ and ‘Nigerians Endorsed Buhari Anti Corruption War’.
One of the leaders of the group Goodluck Obi explained that the president had not broken any law and should not be asked to quit his job.
Obi said that by transmitting a letter to the national assembly and transferring power to the acting president he has fulfilled the constitutional requirements and should be allowed to recuperate fully.
Protesters led by Charly Boy had marched to demand that the president either resume his duties or resign his position.
Buhari has been away in London on medical leave since May 7 with no word as to when he will return.
