A witness who was present at St. Philips Catholic church in Ozubulu, Anambra state has said that the cathedral was in darkness at the time of the fatal attack.
Yesterday an unidentified gunman walked into the church during the 6:30 am mass, killing 12 worshipers and injuring many others.
A chorister explained that just before the attack occurred something went wrong with the generator as the lights went out and candles were lit to aid vision.
After the attack, the gunman walked into a waiting car and drove off leaving many in shock and disbelief.
The parish priest, Jude Onwuaso said the gunman targeted one Akunwafor Ikegwuonwu, shot at him before shooting into the congregation. The priest was however unhurt.
Speaking to news men, commissioner of police, Garba Umar said they suspect the attacker is an indigene of the community as he spoke in Igbo dialect during the attack.
“From our findings, it is very clear that the person who carried the attack must be an indigene of the area,” he had said.
