The mini skirt has been on the top of the trend list for a while now and the maxi resurfaced in the last two years but the length that is on everyone’s lips this season is the midi. For those who don’t know, the midi skirt or gown is a three quarter dress that finishes somewhere between the bottom of the kneecap and the bottom of the calf.
Now even though this is a trend, if not properly worn can be very unflattering to the female body but don’t fret, these tips are fool proof and are bound to get you looking your best yet.
– Midi for the tall girl
If you are a tall girl, wear a skirt that hits mid calf or a couple of inches below. Don’t go too much lower than the widest part of your lower leg because it can appear frumpy.
– Midi for the petite girl
If you are shorter or petite, the midi should hit you just below the knee, right where the calf begins which is the perfect spot for most women and the length won’t cut you off making you lose height.
– Tuck a top into your midi
Whether fitted or free, the best way to wear a midi skirt is to tuck in your top. When the waistline of your midi is exposed, it provides you with length and who doesn’t want to look taller anyway.
– Try a voluptuous midi skirt as opposed to a straight one
Straight cut midi skirts are often harder to pull off especially if you are not on the tall side of life. Try a more voluptuous free fitted skirt paired with a top and a crop jacket just over the waistline of your skirt and notice heads turn as you strut by.
– Flats are not an option
To rock a midi, you must absolutely always wear heels. The easiest way to look frumpy with the midi is to wear flats. You automatically kill the look you are going for creating a dowdier look. This is none negotiable.
– Cut it
If you can’t find just the right length don’t hesitate to take your midi outfit to your tailor to get it snipped up. Many women don’t think about this option either because they are scared or don’t know a good tailor but this is remarkably affordable and a very good trick to help change your maxi cloths to midi and stay in the trend.
