Rahama Sadau, popular Hausa actress who was expelled from the Hausa film industry by the Kano state Chapter of the Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) for hugging a boy in a music video has apologised for her actions.
After the ban in 2016, the 24-year-old actress became an instant sensation as many people felt the ban was undeserved and her acting skills were better off in a more established film industry such as Nollywood or even Hollywood.
Well, it seems like the actress misses her roots as she has reportedly apologised to the governor and Emir of Kano state, Umar Ganduje and Muhammadu Snausi II during a Hausa radio show “Ku Karkade Kunnuwan Ku” (Give Me Your Ears) promising that her actions which led to ban will never be repeated.
“I wish to explain myself over what happened in the past which angered many people and caused such a storm. So, I wish to apologise over what happened. My silence at that time was only due to the fact that I did not want to talk because everybody was so incensed, especially the leaders. As such, I am now apologising to all and sundry, including my colleagues; His Royal Highness the Emir of Kano, His Excellency the Governor of Kano state, and anyone affected; I am so sorry. God’s willing, such will never happen again. Similarly, I wish to appreciate the support of my fans and everyone else.”
What is strange however is since the ban, Sadau has gone in to appear is a number of Nollywood movies such as The Accidental Spy and Tatu playing characters that are flirty and seductive. Some might even call her appearance in Classique’s music video child’s play in comparison but now it appears she is ready to drop it all and adhere to the rules and regulations of MOPPAN? Or what exactly did she mean by “such will never happen again”.
The actress is currently playing a major role in Ebony Life’s Sons of the Caliphate and might we add that her performance is unrivalled. Will be a shame if she bowed to all the pressure and allowed MOPPAN stop her from excelling in her craft.
