Absa has announced its partnership with Business Traveller Africa magazine and Times Media Events as the headline sponsor for the 4th annual Business Traveller Africa Awards, which will take place at The Maslow Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg on 1st September 2015.
Launched in 2012 in association with Business Traveller Africa magazine, the awards ceremony is an event for the South African business travel trade, covering all aspects of business travel, including the four main areas of hotels, airlines, car rental and travel management, along with related categories such as travel credit card provider, foreign exchange, visas, private aviation and conferencing .
“The Business Traveler Awards are an excellent platform to celebrate the travel industry as a whole. We’re excited to be part of such an industry through our sponsorship which is just another way we are advancing the industry,” said Riaan van Niekerk, Head of Commercial issuing Absa member of Barclays.
“Congratulations to all participants for their commitment to making great strides in the promotion of the travel industry.”
The objective of the Business Traveller Africa Awards is to reward excellence in South African business travel.
This year, Business Traveller Africa magazine and Times Media Events have exclusively engaged South Africa’s travel agents – through their association with event partner ASATA (Association of Southern African Travel Agents) and corporate travel buyers, in an attempt to source the most credible winners of the awards. These agents and buyers will supply their votes in the respective categories over the next month, with nominees due to be announced in August, following interrogation of the voting by Times Media’s market intelligence and research division.
The Business Traveller Africa Awards have grown from 13 categories in 2012 to 21 in 2015, with the addition of a new category this year – ‘Best African Low-Cost Airline’.
Sun International’s The Maslow Hotel will host the Business Traveller Africa Awards ceremony for the third time, and along with the handing out of the awards, the morning’s line-up will include topical interviews, speeches and panel discussions, with the much talked-about changes to South Africa’s visa regulations headlining the subject matter, together with the event’s first ever ‘business traveller roundtable’.
“The level of interest in the Business Traveller Africa Awards has grown every year, and it’s clear that the South African business travel community has an appetite for an annual awards event that acknowledges the industry’s top performers,” said Dylan Rogers, Editor of Business Traveller Africa magazine. “As we grow the event, it’s incredibly encouraging that one of South Africa’s largest financial services groups has recognised the potential of this awards function and decided to partner with us.”
The winners in each of the 21 categories will be announced to the industry at the Maslow Hotel on 1st September 2015.
